Analysing video Adverts/promos/ music videos. Analysing a trailer.

I AM Number Four - Official Trailer

Conventional elements:

The Trailer starts with a narration in the first person, narrating the story while visual effects appear to build up the mood of the trailer showing few shots of the places mentioned in the narration in a few seconds to build up anticipation but leaving everything a mystery. Then another element is presented so that it shows how the story is formed and what it revolves around. This is indicated through the rest of the other shots. The reason for this is to leave everything mysterious while the voice informs the audience what’s going on but leaving the structure of the story a mist. It leaves everything hidden so that the audience interest themselves in the production (the movie) and would want to watch it because it creates a sense of curiosity and interest. This technique is always generally used in trailers to influence people to watch a Production. Sometimes trailers will even make the film look good while the realism is that it’s a different story. However, that’s what makes a trailer!
